چکیده

We discuss some recent results on the statistics of the Coulomb Blockade in disordered quantum dots containing spinless interacting fermions using the self-consistent Hartree-Fock approximation. We concentrate on the regime rs > ∼ 1, with finite dimensionless conductance g. We present significantly different results for the cases of a Coulomb and a nearest-neighbour bare interaction. We show that neglecting rearrangements when the particle number is changed (Koopmans’ approximation) can lead to large errors, and show how the spectral statistics of the self-consistent single particle orbitals evolve with the interaction strength.

Coulomb Blockade Fluctuations in Strongly Coupled Quantum Dots

Quantum fluctuations of the Coulomb blockade are investigated as a function of the coupling to reservoirs in semiconductor quantum dots. We use fluctuations in the distance between peaks DN apart to characterize both the amplitude and correlation of peak motion. For strong coupling, the peak motion is greatly enhanced at low temperature, but does not show the expected increase in peak-topeak co...

Ground-state energy and spin in disordered quantum dots

We investigate the ground-state energy and spin of disordered quantum dots using spin-density-functional theory. Fluctuations of addition energies (Coulomb-blockade peak spacings) do not scale with average addition energy but remain proportional to level spacing. With increasing interaction strength, the even-odd alternation of addition energies disappears, and the probability of non-minimal sp...

Mesoscopic Coulomb Blockade in One-Channel Quantum Dots

Signatures of “mesoscopic Coulomb blockade” are reported for quantum dots with one fully transmitting point-contact lead; T1 1, T2 ø 1. Unlike the Coulomb blockade (CB) in weaktunneling devices sT1, T2 ø 1d, one-channel CB is a mesoscopic effect requiring quantum coherence. Several distinctive features of mesoscopic CB are observed, including a reduction in CB upon breaking time-reversal symm...

Exchange and the Coulomb blockade: Peak height statistics in quantum dots

We study the effect of the exchange interaction on the Coulomb blockade peak height statistics in chaotic quantum dots. Since exchange reduces the level repulsion in the many-body spectrum, it strongly affects the fluctuations of the peak conductance at finite temperature. We find that including exchange substantially improves the description of the experimental data. Moreover, it provides furt...
